Brooch "Chatter"

This brooch is inspired by the Chernihiv carpet “Flight” by Natalia Chernova from 1993.
Currently, this carpet is part of Robert Walker’s collection in the USA. We were able to find it thanks to Chernihiv designer Olga Razanova, who kindly lent us a book from the local library about the region’s folk arts.
Now, the village of Dihtyari is part of Chernihiv region; it once belonged to the Poltava province and was a major carpet-weaving center with its own school and workshops. This further highlights the importance of researching carpets not only based on the origin of their designs but also by the history of the locality where they were found.
