Patch "Chirp"

This patch was inspired by Natalia Chernova’s 1993 rug “Flight”, which is currently part of Robert Walker’s collection in the USA.

We discovered it with the help of Chernihiv-based designer Olha Razanova, who kindly lent us a book on local folk arts from the regional library. Today, the village of Dihtri in the Chernihiv region—formerly part of the Poltava Governorate—was once a major center of rug-making, complete with its own school and workshops. This once again highlights the importance of researching rugs not only based on design origin but also through the historical context of the locality where they were found.
