This patch design originates from an early 20th-century carpet from the Zhytomyr region, specifically from the village of Velykyi Lis in the historical-geographical region of Polissia.
The design was created by Yaryna Mykolaivska.
Historical chronicles first mention carpets in this region as early as the 10th–12th centuries, where they were described as sacred items.
Today, this particular carpet is preserved in a branch of the Museum of Ethnography and Arts and Crafts of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine at Rynok Square 10, Lviv.
