Brooch "This is a Bird," Colorful

The inspiration for this patch comes from a 1930s taystra bag woven in Bukovina. The original is now kept at the Chernivtsi Regional Museum of Local Lore.
Taystra is a traditional shoulder bag frequently used by the Hutsuls, much like we use shopper bags today. They were woven on the same looms as carpets.
The bird images are rendered in a "pixelated" style, which is especially popular in Bukovina and Podillia, and this tradition has been preserved to this day.
